Dr. Badrul Khan is a world-renowned speaker, author, educator, and consultant in the field of e-learning. Professor Khan has the credit of first coining the phrase Web-based instruction and popularizing the concept through his 1997 best-selling Web-Based Instruction book which paved the way for the new field of e-learning, and the book has been adopted by more than 350 colleges and universities worldwide. Recognized as the founder of modern elearning by 2014 NATO eLearning Forum, Dr. Khan has been honored with many awards and worldwide acclamation throughout his career. In recognition of his unique contribution to the field of e-learning coupled with his services to worldwide elearning communities, Egyptian E-Learning University Council on August 13, 2012 appointed Dr. Badrul Khan as an honorary Distinguished Professor of Elearning. In 2015, Professor Khan was inducted into the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) Hall of Fame. He is recognized as one of the Leaders in Open and Distance Education in North America. He is considered as one of the most influential scholars in elearning field for his creation of “A Framework for Elearning” (popularly known as “Khan’s E-learning Framework”) which is used by researchers and practitioners worldwide as one the most valid framework models to research, design, evaluate and implement online and blended learning. He is the host of KDW – Khan’s Digital World TV show on FOX 5 PLUS WDCA in the USA by Global Television Network.

He authored twelve books and over 100 manuscripts in topics related to the fields of elearning and distance education. His Managing E-Learning Strategies book further matures elearning processes and practices and has been translated into 20 languages. A sought-after keynote speaker on e-learning, Khan is past President (1999-2000) of the International Division of the Association for Educational and Communication Technology (AECT). He delivered over 100 keynote addresses at the various distance learning conferences in the USA and abroad. He was one of the select few experts invited to a symposium on virtual education organized by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). He served as a consultant/advisor to distance education and educational technology related projects at the World Bank, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Asian Development Bank, various US federal government departments, Ministry of Education in several countries, and academic institutions and corporations in the USA and abroad.

Bangladesh National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) recognized his unique contribution to the field of elearning, and included his biography on page 172 in the mandatory English textbook for all grade 9 and 10 in Bangladesh.

He successfully founded the Educational Technology Leadership graduate cohort program at the George Washington University and the Educational Technology graduate program at the University of Texas at Brownsville. He served as contributing and consulting editor of nine prestigious international educational technology journals & magazines. He is founder of McWeadon Education, a professional development resource site. He came to the United States in 1981, received a B.A. in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, Bloomington. Professor Khan is a proud Bangladesh American, he is continually sharing his knowledge and expertise gained in the United States to various countries in the world including developing countries in Asia, Africa and South America.
